Supplies For Adult Watercolor

This supply list will provide you with with the info you need when attending any of my weekly adult watercolor classes.  Various class registrations may not include extra details about the materials or the best places to find them.  Please review this info and let me know if you have any questions regarding your particular class or materials.

Important note on supplies: Ordering all your supplies from a large online art warehouse is considerably simpler and cheaper than Amazon or trying to go to local suppliers like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc.  Also, the selection at online art warehouses is nearly unlimited.  Most all have free shipping after $35 as well.  I personally use Blick or Jerry's Artarama.  The links below are all for Blick, unless an item was better suited for Amazon
    Paper: 9 x 12 Arches 140lb cold pressed pad

    Watercolor Brushes:
NOTE: Quality brushes are very important to your success.  Poor brushes make the work very difficult. These are my affordable recommendations for this class.  If you already have brushes that you’re satisfied  with, please bring those.  You will need the rigger however, if you don’t already have one.

Palette: you need a very large mixing area for your palette.  Please avoid a tiny palette, you will be miserable.

John Pike Palette (this is the one I use)

Other Supplies:
water container (at least quart sized)
roll of paper towels, or an old cloth towel
        masking tape
        pencil
Glad® Cling Wrap (Saran® wrap doesn’t perform as well for the technique we’ll use)
