A New Chapter
12 x 12 Framed Watercolor with custom red oxide pigment
I can honestly say that I am beginning to really enjoy getting older. When I started seeing a few grey hairs and a few extra pounds, I remember a deep discouragement settling over me. "I'm only good at being young", is a haunting line from a John Mayer song, and it really felt so true as I began my downhill run to 50. But my life and my mind are changing so rapidly right now and I'm beginning to feel exhilarated by it. Two decades of raising a family have come to a close for me and I always knew there were still hidden desires and dreams that I wanted to chase. I have begun to let those come into focus and I'm so excited about the future and reveling in the knowledge and understanding I have now, that eluded me in my 20's and 30's. Maybe youth is wasted on the young? But, at 52, I'm very excited about the last chapters of my life's book. 2020 has paved the way for a new chapter and I can't wait.
